The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents Earth (The Book): A Visitor’s Guide to the Human Race (1/50)

And the race has begun, I am done with my first contribution to my 2014 Goodreads reading challenge.

One down! 49 more to go!

As a Jon Stewart fan and as a person who enjoys a satirical type of literature and art, I enjoyed reading this book. It was funny and hilarious, but it’s hilarity was tending to be more silly than funny sometimes, I have to admit.

“Pigmentation was a quick and convenient way of judging a person. One of us, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., once proposed we instead judge people by the content of their character. He was shot.”

Some stuff was so true and ironic, and others I might differ with due to my religious believes but who cares, I am open-minded enough to take a joke. 😀 😉

“Often, no sooner would the mind begin to scale the heights of Mt. Knowledge than it would receive a frantic call from body base camp, demanding it return to oversee “Operation Masturbate.”

But critically thou; by the end, getting to the last two chapters, I was getting bored and was so eager to end with this, hoping that something in the end would be crazy funny, closing the book with bang of laughter.
Unfortunately, NO BANG, NO BOOM, NO great closure.

All in all, I had fun reading this book and YES I would recommend others to read it 😉

“It’s funny. When we were alive we spent much of our time staring up at the cosmos and wondering what was out there. We were obsessed with the moon and whether we could one day visit it. The day we finally walked on it was celebrated worldwide as perhaps man’s greatest achievement. But it was while we were there, gathering rocks from the moon’s desolate landscape, that we looked up and caught a glimpse of just how incredible our own planet was. Its singular astonishing beauty. We called her Mother Earth. Because she gave birth to us, and then we sucked her dry.”
